See how, at Solihull Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham and Vanguard have greatly improved the experience of thousands of patients.

Over five years, UHB and Vanguard established a surgical hub for
laparoscopic cholecystectomy, created a ‘green’, isolated facility to perform
elective surgery during the Covid-19 pandemic, reduced the elective backlog, and provided capacity while a new 6-theatre surgical hub was constructed.

You are invited to take a tour of the three-theatre surgical complex. Please choose between tours at 10.30 and 13.00, and join us for a buffet lunch at midday.

Vanguard clinical, operations and commercial colleagues will show you how:

• the first mobile theatre was set up and operational within weeks of the decision to proceed being taken
• a clinical team and equipment package was provided with each of the theatres, enabling the earliest opening and availability of increased capacity
• the flexibility of the Vanguard clinical team enabled the Trust to react to changing needs, completely repurposing the theatres
• the team integrated with their Trust colleagues, becoming thought of by Trust managers as simply part of their team
• many procedures of different specialities were performed with minimal changeover time.
