Representing Vanguard were Chief Commercial Officer Ліндсей Дрансфілд, Chief Executive Officer Грем Річ, and Head of Marketing and Communications Ruth Wozencroft. The event provided an important opportunity to connect with both existing partners and new organisations, and to engage in open, forward-looking conversations about the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
While discussions were held under Chatham House rules, several clear themes emerged.
There is encouraging progress in the shift from analogue to digital systems across the NHS. The focus is now on ensuring these systems are fully integrated, enabling joined-up care and improving operational efficiency across organisations.
Neighbourhood health continues to evolve, with a number of innovative collaborative models beginning to take shape. Sharing experiences and practical learning between early adopters will be critical as more systems look to replicate and scale these approaches.
Efforts to tackle waiting lists are delivering results, with sustained focus on outpatient activity playing a central role in driving improvements in patient flow and access to care.
At the same time, workforce challenges remain a pressing concern for healthcare leaders, reinforcing the need for solutions that support capacity, flexibility, and resilience across services.
Alongside attending the main summit, Vanguard hosted two interactive discussion groups focused on optimising NHS estates and capital to deliver change in a constrained environment. These round table sessions brought together senior stakeholders to explore practical questions around estate strategy, operational pressures, and capital planning.
The conversations highlighted the complexity of balancing immediate operational demands with longer-term transformation goals. Participants discussed how organisations are defining estate optimisation in practical terms, the gaps between current infrastructure and service demand, and how capital planning can move beyond reactive maintenance towards enabling meaningful service change.
We would like to thank everyone who joined our discussion groups and contributed their insights so openly. The quality of conversation reflected both the scale of the challenge and the shared commitment across the sector to finding workable, collaborative solutions.
If you would like to continue the conversation, our team would be pleased to hear from you.
