Over five years, UHB and Vanguard established a surgical hub forlaparoscopic cholecystectomy, created a ‘green’, isolated facility to performelective surgery during the Covid-19 pandemic, reduced the elective backlog, and provided capacity while a new 6-theatre surgical hub was constructed.
You are invited to take a tour of the three-theatre surgical complex. Please choose between tours at 10.30 and 13.00, and join us for a buffet lunch at midday.
Vanguard clinical, operations and commercial colleagues will show you how:

the first mobile theatre was set up and operational within weeks of the decision to proceed being taken
a clinical team and equipment package was provided with each of the theatres, enabling the earliest opening and availability of increased capacity
the flexibility of the Vanguard clinical team enabled the Trust to react to changing needs, completely repurposing the theatres
the team integrated with their Trust colleagues, becoming thought of by Trust managers as simply part of their team 
many procedures of different specialities were performed with minimal changeover time.
