Vanguard Healthcare executive appointment spearheads international growth
Vanguard Healthcare – the leading supplier of mobile healthcare facilities – has appointed Dr Maurizio Pupi as International Business Director to undertake the company’s ambitious international strategy.
A seasoned international leader with a wealth of experience in the European healthcare market, Dr Pupi will spearhead Vanguard’s international operations with an immediate focus on offering the company’s unique mobile services to healthcare providers on the Continent.
“Private and public healthcare providers in Europe need a flexible and cost-effective means by which to treat large and often disparate populations across a variety of medical disciplines,” said Dr Pupi.
“Vanguard’s mobile services, which have been invaluable to healthcare providers in the UK, will present a solution to the capacity challenges posed by large, disparate populations in European nations,” said Dr. Pupi.
He added: “By creating a framework of services that focuses on flexibility, public and private healthcare providers will be able to treat patients on a flexible basis, closer to their homes, and complying with the governing standards of the EU.”
Maurizio Pupi joined Vanguard in January from healthcare giant Alliance Medical where he held the role of European Business Director. As an expert in international development and a shareholder in the company, Maurizio facilitated Alliance’s mobilisation across Europe and was responsible for the creation of a number of pan-European business divisions, resulting in the generation of tens of millions of Euros in turnover.
Ian Gillespie, CEO of Vanguard Healthcare, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Maurizio to the Vanguard team – his appointment heralds the beginning of a new age for Vanguard.
“The interest in our services generated at Medica last year serves to illustrate that flexible, cost-effective healthcare solutions are high on the agenda for both public and private providers across Europe.
“The service that we provide is not only relevant to the UK,” he continued. “Similar issues and challenges, particularly with regard to controlling waiting times and dealing with capacity issues, are being felt all across Europe.”
“With Maurizio’s expertise we will be able to offer our mobile services across the Continent and help healthcare providers to tackle these challenges efficiently and cost-effectively,” Ian concluded.
Vanguard has become the leading supplier of mobile healthcare in the UK, to the extent that Vanguard’s units are dubbed the ‘national fleet’ due to their extensive deployment by the NHS.
In January 2004, Vanguard became the first company to supply the NHS with a Mobile Treatment Centre, consisting of two integrated fleets of mobile operating theatres, recovery wards and outpatient facilities as part of the Department of Health\'s national initiative to deliver an additional 40,000 cataract operations across the country.
Vanguard has also been a key healthcare provider for the private sector, with a long-standing relationship with Nuffield Health – a leading private healthcare provider with a network of over 30 hospitals across the UK.
